Our Board of Directors

ECC's Board of Directors is responsible for the policies, finances, fundraising and administration of the school.  Our Board is currently made up of dedicated parents of ECC students.  If you have any interest in joining the Board, please email The Board.    
Samantha Smith
Sam’s background is in counseling, psychology, and special education. She has worked for Kennedy Krieger Institute’s school for children with autism and behavior challenges, two psychiatric inpatient hospital units, and a partial hospitalization program for behavioral health. She was a school counselor at the middle school level for five years, and is currently a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. Sam was also recently a Board member for the MOMS Club of Central Rockville. She is a full-time parent to two children (one alumna and one current student at ECC), and works occasionally at Suburban Hospital as a social worker. She earned her BS degree from James Madison University, and her MS from Johns Hopkins University. Sam enjoys exercise classes, reading, swimming, trying new restaurants, and watching movies. She is originally from Baltimore, and currently resides in Rockville.
Jocelyn Lewandowski
Vice President
Jocelyn joined the Board in 2020. She currently works as a Project Manager and Senior Preparedness Analyst for Argonne National Laboratory's Decision and Infrastructure Sciences Division. Prior to joining Argonne, she worked as a Project Manager and Business Management Consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton for more than 15 years, specializing in stakeholder engagement, strategic communications, policy development and implementation, and program development. She attended the University of Maryland, College Park where she received a BA in Psychology and Sociology. Jocelyn resides in Rockville with her husband and two sons - one graduated from ECC in June 2020 and one is currently attending. 
Jonathan Thessin
Jonathan serves as treasurer on the board of directors.  He and his wife Rebecca have been involved with ECC for five years, having sent their three sons to the school.  In addition to serving on the board, Jonathan is a youth soccer coach with the City of Rockville and, together with Rebecca, teach catechism at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.  Professionally, Jonathan serves as vice president and senior counsel with the American Bankers Association, where he handles consumer financial regulatory policy issues.  He previously worked in the United States Senate and House of Representatives and with a large law firm.
Mary Beth Piecham
Mary Beth Piecham joined the Board in 2020. Mary Beth is a senior project director and researcher in K-12 mathematics education, and has worked at Education Development Center since 2007. She has also worked in public relations for nonprofit and corporate clients. Mary Beth received an M.Ed. from University of Massachusetts Boston and an B.A. from North Carolina State University. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their three boys, the youngest of whom is an Owl at ECC. Since moving to Maryland in 2017, she and her family have grown to love Rockville and enjoy taking hikes and day trips in the DC area.
Charlotte Dodge

Charlotte joined the Board in May 2020.  She has a one current ECC student and one future ECC student.  
Reena Singh
At Large
Reena joined the Board in August 2020.  She is a hospitality professional with a passion for strategy & analytics, and currently works for Choice Hotels International as Regional Manager, Revenue Management. A 20-year global career in luxury and midscale hotel chains, combined with her love for travel & cuisine, led her to experience several cultures & traditions in Asia, Middle East, and Africa before coming to the United States. Reena cares deeply about the environment and volunteers at the Montgomery County Recycle Center when possible. She moved to Rockville seven years ago and quickly decided to make it home. Her husband and their two children, one a former ECC student, are very glad they did.
